Shamardal on top at Tatts

Shamardal was responsible for the highest-priced colt and filly of the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up sale, in a buoyant two days' trading that saw no fewer than five of the top ten lots sired by a Darley stallion.

John Ferguson went to 500,000 guineas (the highest price of the sale overall) to secure Tally-Ho Stud's colt out of Balloura (Swain), who is from the family of multiple G1 winner Oratorio. Just seven lots later, Shamardal's daughter of proven Black type producer Bella Bella, consigned by Mocklershill Stud, was bought by Richard Frisby for 360,000 guineas.

Authorized, who is currently enjoying a purple patch with four winners in the past week alone, also featured in the top ten, courtesy of his colt out of Bold Assumption who was bought by Mark Johnston for 170,000 guineas.

Earlier in the session, Marco Botti gave 200,000 for a Cape Cross colt out of Thiella (herself a daughter of G3 winner and G1 performer Theoretically), consigned by Hillwood Stud.

Street Boss, who stands at Darley in America and has his first runners this year, completed the quartet of top-ten Darley sires when his half-brother to Stakes winner Record sold for 280,000 guineas.
