Iffraaj four-year-old Turn Me Loose has confirmed he is a top-shelf colt by winning the $1 million G1 Emirates Stakes over a mile at Flemington on Stakes Day on November 7.
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy took the horse straight to the lead and went at a fast clip, easing to the middle of the track in the straight and proving too strong for his rivals, making it three straight Stakes wins and his second at G1 level from just 11 starts.
Street Sense mare Politeness, who won the G1 Myer Classic at Flemington over the mile the previous Saturday, flashed home late to run second.
Turn Me Loose was bred by George Simon and is the third foal to race out of the Danehill mare Indomitable, a half-sister to Stakes performer Martial Art.
Turn Me Loose is one of five G1 winners for Iffraaj, together with Rizeena, Chriselliam, Benvenue and Wootton Bassett. This year, he has sired G2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Ribchester, fellow G2 winner Serena Miss, plus G1 performers Nathra, Magic Artist,Latharnach and Sardaaj.
Iffraaj is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £22,500 October 1st, Special live foal.
