First-season sire Profitable sired his 28th individual winner when his son Indian Key landed a maiden in Rome on Friday, 17 December.
The Agostino Affe-trained colt jumped out of the stalls to take a front-running position early on in the race, sitting in second throughout the mile contest. Indian Key ran on eagerly when asked by jockey Claudio Colombi and responded well when put under pressure in the final furlong to run clear just in time for the line.
Bred by Michael O’Mahony, Indian Key is out of the winning mare Gerash, herself a half-sister to G3 Prix Andre Baboin winner Mobaco.
Profitable has also sired this year’s G2 Queen Mary Stakes heroine Quick Suzy, plus Listed winners Head Mistress and Silver Tankard Stakes winner Mr Professor.
Profitable stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €12,500, Oct 1, SLF.
