Odinson showed he was a two-year-old on the rise when the son Night Of Thunder stormed home from well back to win the Restricted Listed Inglis Nursery over 1000m on Saturday, 9 December at Royal Randwick.
A placegetter on debut in the G3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington last month, Odinson jumped smartly from an outside barrier before being restrained by jockey Tyler Schiller to near the tail of the field.
Once balanced and allowed rein, Odinson came with a big run to defeat Beer Baron to win by a neck, with Nymphadora finishing fast for third another length away.
Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace at Warwick Farm, Odinson was bred by Qatar Bloodstock from the English mare Good Vibes. The colt was part of the Widden Stud draft at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where Ciaron Maher Bloodstock paid $320,000.
Odinson’s win came a week after another son of Night Of Thunder, Acquitted, won the Listed Tails Stakes (1600m) at Doomben.
A dual G1 winner on the track and also the sire of triple G1-winning European mare Highfield Princess, Night Of Thunder leads the stallion roster at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
