Imported galloper Acquitted opened his black type account on Saturday, 2 December when the Night Of Thunder gelding won the Listed Tails Stakes over 1,600m at Doomben in Brisbane.
Bred by Lannister Holdings from the Irish mare Blameless, Acquitted came to Australia as the winner of two races but has now extended his record to five wins and eights placings.
Trained at Newcastle by Kris Lees, Acquitted’s win was the third Stakes race success for the progeny of Night Of Thunder in a month.
It followed Romantic Style’s win at Newmarket and Tacarib Bay saluting at Newcastle in England.
Night Of Thunder was a dual G1 winner on the track and boasts a terrific winners-to-runners strike rate of 66 per cent.
The sire of triple G1-winning European mare Highfield Princess, Night Of Thunder stands at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
