Layfayette, a first-crop son of French Navy, became the latest winner for his sire when taking a two-year-old maiden at Navan on Saturday, 7 September. Benefitting from previous experience, the colt was held up towards the rear, launching a challenge a furlong out to clinch victory in the dying strides by half a length.
Bred by Matthew Duffy, Layfayette is the second foal out of the winning Holy Roman Emperor mare Scala Romana. She is a half-sister to three winners out of a daughter of Listed Cheshire Oaks winner and dual G1 placed High And Low. This is the family of multiple G1 winner and sire American Post.
French Navy, a multiple Group winning son of Shamardal, is also the sire of the winning colts Get Set and Luckynav.
