Leading second-season sire Shamardal recorded his eighth European Stakes winner of the year on 23 September when his three-year-old daughter It's Midnight landed the Listed Prix Coronation, run over a mile at Saint-Cloud.
Prominent from the early stages, the Pascal Bary-trained filly took the lead halfway down the home straight and ran on well to win by three quarters of a length. She has now won three times and been placed twice in seven starts.
Owned and bred by the Niarchos family, It’s Midnight is out of the winning Fairy King mare Witching Hour, also dam of G1 Prix Jacques le Marois runner up Holocene.
Worldwide, Shamardal has now sired 17 individual Black type winners, 11 of whom have won at Group level including multiple G1 winners Faint Perfume and Lope de Vega.
