The impeccably-bred Show Day gained a very valuable Stakes win on Sunday 4 September when running out the impressive winner of the Listed Escada Cup. Run over 1800m at Baden-Baden in Germany, the full-sister to star filly Usherette was held up near the rear early before storming through in the short straight to win a shade cosily.
Show Day becomes the second Stakes winner out of the Maria’s Mon mare Monday Show, who was Stakes-placed herself and hails from the extended family of G1 performers Vespone and Purple Moon.
The sire of 19 Stakes winners in 2016, Shamardal has now also had ten win at Group level including top-flight scorers Dariyan, Speedy Boarding and Tryster, leading fillies Usherette and Royal Solitaire and Australian G2-winner Bow Creek.
