New juvenile Stakes winner for Shamardal
Shamardal's outstanding year continued on 6 November when the talented young sire recorded his 21st individual Stakes winner of 2010, with his two-year-old son Crackerjack King gaining his first Black type when landing the Listed Premio Campobello in Milan.
Having won by three and a half lengths on his racecourse debut early last month, the Stefano Botti-trained colt stepped up in class today and won in equally impressive style – crossing the line three and a quarter lengths ahead of My Old Husband, with Secret Flay a further three quarters of a length back in third.
Bred by Azienda Agricola Allevamento Deni, Crackerjack King is out of the winning Barathea mare Claba Di San Jore, making him a half-brother to two G1 winners including Gran Premio di Milano victor Jakkalberry – who is by Darley Japan stallion Storming Home.
No fewer than 13 of Shamardal’s 21 2010 Stakes winners have won at Group level, including four G1 winners in Captain Sonador, Casamento, Faint Perfume and Lope de Vega.
