Night Of Thunder added a new Group winner to his already impressive record on Wednesday, 9 June when his four-year-old daughter Thunder Kiss ran out the determined winner of the G3 Munster Oaks at Cork.
The Ger Lyons-trained filly was settled third from last under Colin Keane during the early stages of the 12-furlong contest, before being switched out with three furlongs left to run. Ridden along past the two-furlong marker, Thunder Kiss put up an impressive battle to see off Silence Please and win by three quarters of a length.
Thunder Kiss has only finished out of the first two once in seven starts and was second in the G3 Blue Wind Stakes a month ago.
She was bred by Newtown Anner Stud and is the first foal out of the Stakes-placed Teofilo mare Desert Snow. The dam is herself a half-sister to New Approach’s juvenile Black Type winner Parish Boy and is from a family packed with G1 winners, including Dubawi’s dual top-flight winner Coronet.
Night Of Thunder is also sire this year of G1 Queensland Derby hero Kukaracha, plus unbeaten Group winner Suesa – who heads to Royal Ascot next week for the G1 Commonwealth Cup.
