Marine Wave storms home to victory in Listed Flying Fillies' Stakes

Harry Angel's progressive daughter wins first Stakes title

Harry Angel’s first-crop daughter, Marine Wave, gained her first Black Type success as she stormed home for a decisive two and three-quarter length victory in the Listed Flying Fillies’ Stakes at Pontefract on Sunday, 18 August.

Richard Fahey’s progressive four-year-old filly jumped quickly from the gates and was soon tracking the leader. Travelling strongly under Oisin Orr, Marine Wave swept to the lead entering the final furling, going clear to win readily in the six-furlong sprint. Tiger Bay, also by Harry Angel, filled third spot.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Ltd, Marine Wave is third foal out of the unraced Kheleyf mare Ambiguous, herself a half-sister to Tangerine Trees, a Champion Sprinter in France, and G1 Nunthorpe Stakes victor, Alpha Delphini.

Marine Wave became Harry Angel’s seventh Black Type winner this year, following on from the success of his four-year-old son, Arkansaw Kid, who was an easy winner of yesterday’s Listed Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield. Amongst his other winners are G3 scorers, A Lilac Rolla and Esquire, whilst his G1-winning son, Tom Kitten made a successful racecourse reappearance at Rosehill on Saturday to win by two lengths in a 1400m handicap.
