Manduro’s Trois Lunes wins G3 Prix Vanteaux

Francois Rohaut-trained filly another Classic hopeful along with Mandeaen and Bonfire

The three-year-old filly Trois Lunes became the latest member of Manduro’s first crop to add her name to the list of 2012 Classic hopefuls with a determined win in the G3 Prix Vanteaux over 1850m at Longchamp. She held off a strong challenge from the Aga Khan’s Sagawara, by Shamardal, who took second.

Bred and raced by Haras de Saint Pair, Trois Lunes is the first foal out of the Fasliyev mare Trip To The Moon, a Listed winner over a mile in France at three. The Francois Rohaut-trained filly has been highly progressive in her four starts to date, winning on her second outing at Saint-Cloud in November before finishing runner-up in a Listed contest on her seasonal debut in March when stepped up to ten furlongs from a mile.

Sagawara, another filly who is clearly progressing fast, was having her first run since her maiden win at Saint-Cloud last October.

Manduro’s Classic contenders include his Group One-winning son Mandeaen, who is entered for Saturday’s 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, and Group One-placed Bonfire, who holds entries for the Dante Stakes and the Derby.

Manduro stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €10,000, October 1, Special Live Foal.
