First-season sire Shamardal, who recorded his first Black type winner on Sunday when Arctic landed the Grangecon Stud Stakes, wasted little time in adding to his winners’ total with Stunning View becoming his sixth European winner on 27 July.
Never far from the pace, Dermot Weld’s charge travelled superbly and taking the lead at the top of the straight, eased clear and won the seven furlong contest by three lengths from Banyan Tree.
That he has now earned quotes of around 25-1 for next year’s 2,000 Guineas should not be a complete surprise, as this race has been won in the past by the likes of Lucifer Sam, Fleeting Shadow and Grey Swallow. The colt could step up in class for his next start with a possible tilt at the G2 Futurity at Fairyhouse next month.
Bred by the Irish National Stud, Stunning View is out of the Nureyev mare Sabaah, making him a half-brother to dual Classic winner and sire of Makybe Diva, Desert King.
