Shaman, a four-year-old son of the late Shamardal, won his third Stakes race on Monday, 11 May when making all the running in the G2 Prix d’Harcourt.
He was making his seasonal debut after an excellent 2019 campaign that included victories in the G3 Prix la Force and Listed Prix Omnium II, with also a second in the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains. Shaman has now won five times in a 13-race career.
Owned and bred by Wertheimer et Frere, he is a son of the Stakes-winning mare Only Green (Green Desert), who is a half-sister to Champion performer Occupandiste, who is herself the dam of G1-winner Mondialiste.
Shamardal has sired 146 individual Stakes winners including 25 that have won at the highest level. They include record-breaker Blue Point, the only horse to win three G1 sprints at Royal Ascot, Champion Pinatubo, who was the best juvenile for 25 years, and multiple G1-winning two-year-old Earthlight.
