Listed win for daughter of Blue Point

Raqiya strikes in the Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury

Raqiya, a first crop daughter of Blue Point, won her first Stakes race on Saturday, 25 May when winning the Listed Cathedral Stakes over six furlongs at Salisbury. Making her seasonal debut after a brace of juvenile wins, she won by a neck from Funny Story, with Mister Sketch (Territories) back in third.

Owned and bred by Shadwell Stud, Raqiya is the third winner bred out of the Dansili mare Rihaam, a relative of Champion miler Bahri.

It has been a fantastic day for Blue Point after Rosallion’s brilliant success in the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. Blue Point has now sired six first-crop Stakes winners including G1 Breeders’ Cup hero Big Evs.
