While this week’s headline acts may be the Classic trials at Newmarket and Newbury, Blue Point has certainly made his presence felt, both on the racecourse and in the sales ring.
On Thursday 20 April, the first-season sire recorded his fourth winner from only seven runners when his son Keran cruised to victory at Tarbes, France.
The Aga Khan homebred, who is trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, broke well and was settled in second during the early stages of the five-and-a-half-furlong contest. Ridden along inside the final two furlongs, Keran picked up impressively and stretched clear of his rivals to win by two and a half lengths.
Keran becomes the third winner from three foals to race out of Listed winner Kerasona, a half-sister to juvenile Group winner Keratiya. He is also the third winner this week for his exciting young sire.
With such sensational results on the racecourse, it is no surprise that the Blue Points have been in demand at Tattersalls this week. His average for the Craven Breeze Up Sale stands at just under 240,000gns, with a top price of 625,000gns for his colt out of Group winner Most Beautiful, who will now join Charlie Appleby’s string.
