Having sired his first Group winner when Al Dasim scored in the G3 Nad Al Sheba Sprint Turf on Saturday, 4 March, Harry Angel’s successful day continued when his unbeaten three-year-old son, Iconic Moment, held on for a short-head win in the seven-furlong Listed Spring Cup Stakes at Lingfield, his third straight win.
Winning twice in as many starts over seven furlongs at the end of last year, including an impressive two-and-three-quarter length victory on his last start in November, the smart James Tate-trained colt travelled keenly under Rossa Ryan, with two furlongs to run he was then switched to the outside and battled for the lead in the final stages where he eventually got the better of his stablemate, New Definition, to survive a photo finish.
Bred by Ennistown Stud, Iconic Moment is the first foal out of the unraced Iffraaj mare, Purplest, herself a half-sister to Group-performer Taajub. She also has a two-year-old filly by Night Of Thunder.
A World Champion Sprinter, Harry Angel has made an impressive start at stud with 27 winners from his first crop, including Australian Listed winner and G1-performer Arkansaw Kid, Stakes-winning colt Proverb and G2-placed Marshman and Vicious Harry.
Harry Angel stands at Dalham Hall Stud for £10,000, Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
