Night Of Thunder’s three-year-old son Isaac Shelby made a winning return to the track on Saturday, April 22, with an impressive victory in the G3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
Owned by Manton Thoroughbreds VII, Isaac Shelby who is trained by Brian Meehan, made all in the Classic trial after a dramatic start which saw Chaldean unseat his rider after leaving the stalls.
Travelling in front throughout, Isaac Shelby pulled clear of the field under Sean Levey inside the final furlong to comfortably land the seven-furlong contest by three lengths, adding a second Black Type win to his CV. Last year he won two from three starts including the G2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. He may now head to the G1 French 2,000 Guineas.
Bred by Elaine Chivers, Isaac Shelby is out of the unraced Heliostatic mare, Kentucky Belle, a half-sister to US G2 turf winner, Ramazutti. She also has a winning filly by Raven's Pass.
Night Of Thunder is the sire of 33 individual Stakes winners. Last year saw his daughter Highfield Princess rated the best sprinter in Europe with a rating of 126 following a thrilling G1 treble.
Night Of Thunder stands at Kildangan Stud, Co. Kildare, Ireland for €100,000 Oct 1, SLF.
