Shaman, a three-year-old son of Shamardal, became a Group winner on Sunday, 7 April when making all the running to win the G3 Prix la Force. The winner of the Listed Prix Omnium II on his previous start, he was sent to the front straight from the stalls in the 1800m contest and never saw another rival to defeat Rockemperor and Roman Candle.
Owned and bred by Wertheimer et Frere, he is a son of the Stakes-winning mare Only Green (Green Desert), who is a half-sister to Champion performer Occupandiste, who is herself the dam of G1-winner Mondialiste.
Shamardal has now sired 63 individual Group winners, 21 of which have won at the highest level. This includes the top sprinter Blue Point, who won his second G1 last weekend in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan and will try to land his second King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on his next start.
