G3 victory for daughter of Shamardal
Shamardal’s daughter Shamalia recorded her second Stakes success and her first at Group level with victory in the G3 Birthday Card Stakes at Rosehill, March 21.
Having her first run since November last year, Shamalia settled midfield in the early stages. As the field straightened for the run home, jockey Hugh Bowman came to the centre of the track on Shamalia and she quickly dashed to the lead before going on to record a dominant two-length win.
A homebred for Think Big Stud who had a lot of success with another homebred daughter of Shamardal in multiple G1 winner Faint Perfume, Shamalia is out of the metropolitan-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Laylia.
Shamardal has enjoyed a hugely successful week, highlighted by his superstar son Able Friend’s win in the G1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup in Hong Kong. He stands at Kildangan Stud at €70,000 October 1st SLF.
