With the 2017 covering season now underway, the seven newly-retired stallions to join the Darley roster this year are all off to a great start in their new careers, with their first mares scanned in foal.
Belardo, Champion European two-year-old and winner of the G1 Lockinge at four, has proven popular with Irish breeders, as has his Kildangan Stud stablemate The Last Lion – outstanding winner of last year’s G1 Middle Park.
New to Dalham Hall Stud this year are Charming Thought, the 625,000gns yearling who also won the G1 Middle Park at two, together with the impeccably-bred G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Territories, who also finished runner-up in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Record-breaker Exosphere is the latest stallion to shuttle from Australia. His first southern hemisphere foals are due to arrive later this year and he is currently standing at Haras du Logis in France.
Two stallions have joined the Darley Club for 2017 – Exceed And Excel’s talented son Buratino, standing at Kildangan, and multiple Group winner Bow Creek (Shamardal), who stands at Haras du Logis.
