Shamardal looks to have a very exciting prospect for the end of this year, and indeed next year, in the form of Emaraaty Ana, who won the G2 Gimrack Stakes at York on Friday, 24 August.
Soon in front under Frankie Dettori, Emaraaty Ana was in command throughout the six-furlong contest and quickened beautifully once asked for his effort, winning by half a length from Legends Of War.
Trained by Kevin Ryan, who has now saddled four winners of this race, Emaraaty Ana won on his racecourse debut at Windsor in convincing fashion back in April, before placing second in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury last month. He is now likely to head to Newmarket for the G1 Middle Park Stakes.
He is out of the Stakes-winning Cape Cross mare Spirit of Dubai, herself a half-sister to multiple Group winner Trumbaka.
Emaraaty Ana becomes the second winner of the race for Shamardal, whose G1-winning son Blue Point was also victorious two years ago. Shamardal is also sire this year of G1 winner Pakistan Star, plus fellow Group winners Aljazzi and Hazapour.
