The feature contest of the day at Fairyhouse on Monday, 21 September was the Listed Blenheim Stakes and the six-furlong race was completed dominated by the Darley stallions, whose progeny filled the first three positions.
The winner was Exceed And Excel’s talented daughter Lady Princess, who was recording her second career win. The Denis Hogan-trained filly was held up during the early stages and began to make headway with two furlongs left to run.
Switched out a furlong from home, Lady Princess took the lead in the closing stages and eventually won by a length and a quarter from New Treasure (New Approach). Bell I Am, one of seven winners to date for her first-season sire Belardo, put up a creditable performance to take third.
Lady Princess was bred by John Quigley and is out of the multiple winner Million Spirits, a half-sister to G1 winner Elusive Wave. The mare is dam of four winners, including the Stakes-placed colt Spiritual Son.
Exceed And Excel has now sired 16 individual Black Type winners in 2020, headed by the G1-winning trio Bivouac, Mr Stunning and Queen Supreme.
Also on Monday, a yearling by Teofilo set a new record of £325,000 at the relocated Tattersalls Ireland Sale, held at Park Paddocks in Newmarket this year.
The colt, who was offered by Boherguy Stud, is out of Gearani making him a full brother to last month's Acomb Stakes Gear Up, plus fellow Group winner Guaranteed.
