The two feature races (both G3 contests) on the card at Meydan on Friday, 17 February were won in fine style by sons of Darley stallions Dubawi and Teofilo.
Siskany (Dubawi) became the latest Group winner for his sire with a decisive victory in the Nad Al Sheba Trophy.
Charlie Appleby’s charge was settled in sixth under William Buick early on, he began to make headway three furlongs out and taking the lead with a furlong left to run, eased clear to win by two lengths. He becomes the seventh consecutive winner of the race for Godolphin.
Dubawi is now sire of seven individual Stakes winners and a further six Stakes performers so far in 2023.
Just one race later and it was the turn of Teofilo’s G1-winning son Nations Pride to open his Black Type account for the year as he ran out the impressive winner of the 10-furlong Dubai Millennium Stakes.
Racing behind the early leaders, Nations Pride (pictured winning last year's Newmarket Stakes) came four wide around the final turn and took up the running with two furlongs left to run. Once in front, he was never challenged and ran on superbly to win by two lengths.
Nations Pride won the G1 Saratoga Derby last August and his next target is likely to be the G1 Dubai Turf on World Cup Night.
He is the second Stakes winner for Teofilo at this year’s Dubai World Cup Carnival, following Naval Power’s impressive win in the Listed Jumeirah Classic a fortnight ago.
