Blue Point’s first crop of runners have been quick to impress and on Tuesday 13 June, he added an 11th individual winner to his record when Dark Points ran out the ready winner of the six-furlong maiden at Ayr.
Never far from the pace under Andrew Mullen, the Charlie Johnston-trained colt moved clear with Indivar and Si Si Senor two furlongs out and came out best in a decent battle to win by two lengths. Second-placed Indivar, also by Blue Point, was making his racecourse debut and it would be no surprise to see him salute the judge in the near future.
Dark Points is owned and bred by Mr Hussein Alabbas Lootah and is out of the G2-placed winner Dark Rose Angel, herself a half-sister to Champion sprinter and G1 producer Rose Bonheur.
Next week sees the anniversary of Blue Point’s unrivalled Royal Ascot G1 sprint treble, where he won back-to-back renewals of the King’s Stand and in 2019 took both premier contests for speedsters when also landing the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
