Shamardal's talented four-year-old son Captain Sonador, who landed the G1 Epsom Handicap last October, returtned to winning ways in convincing fashion on 2 January when running out the easy winner of the 1200msix-furlong Listed Goldmarket Handicap at the Gold Coast.
Partnered by regular rider Glen Boss, Captain Sonador sat behind the pacemakers before asserting his dominance in the straight, displaying a scintillating turn of foot to win by a length.
Bred by Mill Park Stud and a graduate of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Captain Sonador is the first foal of winning Kenny’s Best Pal mare Pushing Daisies, a half-sister to G2 winner Umaline.
Shamardal, who stands at Kildangan Stud, is also sire of fellow G1 winners Faint Perfume, Casamento and Lope De Vega,
