Palentino added a second G1 win to his record in a gutsy run over a mile in the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday 10 September.
Under the master craftsmanship of jockey Mark Zahra, the four-year-old entire settled in the middle of the field before pursuing a narrow opening in the famous Flemington straight. The son of Teofilo chased down dual G1 winner and stablemate Black Heart Bart to take the lead with just over a furlong left to run and eventually won by a length.
Bred by Jenny Watson of the Macleay Thoroughbred Stud, Palentino is out of the Palace Music mare Palatine Hill. With three Black type wins now to his name, Palentino will now head for the G1 Cox Plate.
Palentino is one of ten individual G1 winners for Teofilo, alongside three-time Group winner Kermadec and Irish Derby winner Trading Leather.
