Ancient Goddess soars in Star Shoot Stakes
Three-year-old filly Ancient Goddess became the newest Stakes winner for her sire Iffraaj, with a game win in the Star Shoot Stakes at Woodbine April 12.
In the six-furlong race Ancient Goddess traveled in between horses towards the back of the field. Into the stretch the filly found an opening and took aim at the lead, charging in the final strides to seal the win at the wire.
Bred by David St John Collier, Ancient Goddess is out of the Stakes-winning and Group-placed mare Jezebel. The filly's second dam is Listed winner Just Ice.
Iffraaj is the sire of 29 Stakes winners lifetime, among them five G1 winners. They include G1 Coronation Stakes winner Rizeena and Champion Two-Year-Old Wootton Bassett. Among the sire's top runners in 2015 are G3 Jebel Ali Mile winner Forjatt and G2 winner Serena Miss. Iffraaj stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £22,500 (October 1st SLF).
