Iffraaj added a third Group winner of 2021 to his record on Thursday, 8 April when his three-year-old son Fast Raaj led home a 1-2 for his sire in the G3 Prix Djebel, run over seven furlongs at Deauville.
Settled towards the rear under Gregory Benoist, Fast Raaj was always travelling well and came with a sweeping run down the centre of the track to hold off fellow Iffraaj colt Pimento by a neck.
Fast Raaj is out of the Group-placed Raven’s Pass mare Interesting, herself a daughter of G1 Prix Morny second With Fascination and from the family of Exceed And Excel’s multiple G1-winning Champion Mr Stunning.
It is worth noting that Fast Raaj becomes the 10th Black Type winner for Raven’s Pass as a broodmare sire, whose daughters have now produced five Group winners including Mishriff.
Iffraaj is also sire this year of G2 Al Fahidi Fort hero Land of Legends, plus G3 Winter Derby winner Forest Of Dean, who holds an entry in next week’s G3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes.
