First-season sire Shirocco has made a good impression with his first runners this year and on 11 November, he added his ninth individual winner when Brown Panther won first time out, landing the seven-furlong maiden at Southwell.
Always prominent, the Tom Dascombe-trained colt quickened well approaching the final furlong and taking the lead close to home, ran on impressively to win by a length.
Bred by Owen Promotions Limited, Brown Panther is out of the Stakes-winning G2-placed mare Treble Heights (Unfuwain), herself a half-sister to two G1 performers in Warm Feeling and Precede.
Shirocco is also sire of the Listed-winning filly Jardina, plus two promising juveniles in Grand Vent (who was third in the G3 Prix Thomas Bryon last month) and Rising Wind (second in the Listed Silken Glider Stakes last time out).
Also on Thursday, fellow first-season sire Librettist recorded his 11th individual winner when Normanton was successful over eight and a half furlongs at Machecoul in France.
Bred by Jedburgh Stud, Normanton is the third winner from three foals to race out of Exeter, a half-sister to Exciting Times - dam of G1 winner Gorella.
Shirocco will stand the 2011 season at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £10,000, while Librettist will stand at Haras du Logis at €6,000, both October 1st Special live foal.
