Purple patch continues for Ghaiyyath

Eggleston becomes the second new winner in as many days for first-season sire

Ghaiyyath is rounding off his first season with runners with a real bang, and on Wednesday, 13 November, he sired his second new winner in just two days after Eggleston won in impressive fashion at Pau, France.

Settled on the rail behind the early pace, Eggleston looked to have plenty to do as the field entered the home straight, but once a gap appeared he quickened well and crossed the line under hands and heels to win by a length and three quarters.

Bred in Ireland by N Hartery, he is out of the Exceed And Excel mare Eleanor Powell, a full sister to G1 Nunthorpe winner Margot Did, herself the dam of two G1 winners and a G2 winner.

Eggleston’s victory comes only 24 hours after Mandanaba gained TDN Rising Star status following her six-length romp at Chantilly.

Ghaiyyath is also sire of G3-placed Stanhope Gardens, recent 10-length winner Sopran Norma and the unbeaten Gethin, whose six-length victory was rated by Timeform as the best performance on debut by any juvenile in Europe this year.

Ghaiyyath will stand the 2025 breeding season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €20,000, Oct 1, SLF.
