Double on the day for Earthlight

Brisone and Feeraas both strike for first-crop sire

Earthlight has now sired five new winners in under a week after a double on Wednesday, 2 October.

First to strike was his Italian-trained colt Brisone, who gained a well-deserved first victory over 1500m in Milan. Making his second career start, he was first past the post on debut but was subsequently disqualified into second place.

Bred in Ireland by Carisbrooke Stud, Brisone is a son of the Dylan Thomas mare Lynique, who is a sister to the Canadian G1 heroine Tannery.

Within an hour Earthlight doubled his winning tally on the day when Feeraas gained his first victory at Musselburgh. Making his second Nursery start, he battled well in the straight to record a short-head win.

Like Brisone, Feeraas is also out of a mare from a Danehill-line stallion, this time the Stakes-placed Imtiyaaz, who is by Starspangledbanner. She was bought by Colm McEvoy in 2021 for €47,000 carrying Feeraas in utero.

Earthlight has now sired 15 individual winners including the G3-winning filly Daylight, who has also been placed in both the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes and G1 Prix Morny. On Saturday, Earthlight’s three-parts brother Shadow Of Light became Europe’s best juvenile when taking the Middle Park Stakes by four lengths.
