Earthy was a new winner for first-season sire Earthlight as she shed her maiden tag with a decisive one-length victory at Chelmsford on Saturday, 28 September.
Keen early, Earthy, who is trained by Amy Murphy, was always in touch with the leaders, she picked up well down the centre of the track and took up the lead inside the final furlong. The Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners-owned filly kept on well to land the 6f contest.
Bred by Lynn Lodge Stud, Earthy was a Goffs Orby Yearling purchase. She is out of the unraced Noverre mare, Capriole, who is responsible for four other winners.
Earthlight is now the sire of 12 runners, headed by his G3-winning daughter Daylight, who earlier in the day ran a superb race to finish runner-up in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket. She also placed third in the G1 Prix Morny last month.
Amongst this young stallions other winners are the exciting colts Olympus Point, who scored by three-lengths to break his maiden at Newmarket on Thursday and Mr Lightside, a dual winner, who also added Black Type to his record when third in the G3 Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
