Blue Point’s progeny continue to fly this season and on Thursday, 1 August, his first-crop daughter Raknah put up a gutsy performance to win the seven-furlong Corrib Fillies’ Stakes at Galway.
Soon in front under Gary Carroll, the Jessica Harrington-trained three-year-old was always in command and kept to her task superbly during the closing stages to win by a neck from Princess Child.
Raknah was bred by Summerseat Stables Limited and is out of the Sea The Star mare Copperstone, a full sister to Group winner Stellar Mass. The mare is also a half-sister to Lady Momoka, dam of Too Darn Hot’s Stakes-winning, Group-placed son Boiling Point.
Raknah’s victory comes just a day after Raqiya took the G3 Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Blue Point is also sire this year of brilliant Irish Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes hero Rosallion and Big Evs, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf who reappears in the G2 King George Stakes at Goodwood tomorrow.
