Night Of Thunder’s fantastic season continued with another new Stakes winner when his progressive son, Ombudsman, flew home to record his first Black Type victory in the Listed Prix Nureyev at Deauville, France on Sunday, 11 August.
Ombudsman, who made his racecourse debut in June, extended his unbeaten record to three from three with an impressive performance in the 2000m contest. Trained by John & Thady Gosden for Godolphin, the colt travelled well on the outside of the field in fourth, making good progress with just over 300m to run he soon drew clear, putting daylight between himself and his rivals, and powered home to a decisive three and a half-length victory.
Flawless record intact! 🚀

Bred in Ireland by Ballyhimikin Stud, Ombudsman was a 340,000gns Tattersalls October Yearling Book 2 purchase. He is out of the winning Dansili mare, Syndicate who is an own-sister to Runnymede, a Champion miler in Italy and Stipulate who is a Black Type winner both in Great Britain and Australia.
Night Of Thunder is having a terrific season with Ombudsman becoming his fourteenth Black Type winner of the year so far. Economics, who was the easy winner of the G2 Dante Stakes and Fairy Godmother, a G3-juvenile winning filly, are amongst the highlights of his year.
