First-season sire Ghaiyyath added a new winner to his record on Monday, 9 September when his daughter Gretna Dreams took the opener at Wolverhampton.
Racing keenly early on under Ray Dawson, Gretna Dreams began to make headway two furlongs from home and clearly appreciating the step up in trip to nine and a half furlongs, picked up impressively to cross the line with Keep Singing. While the race was initially announced as a dead heat, the stewards subsequently found that Gretna Dreams had suffered interference close to home and awarded her the race outright.
Gretna Dreams was bred by J Sarkar, D Sarkar, O Sarkar & D Sarkar and is out of the winning Tiger Hill mare, Elope. The dam is herself out of a full sister to G2 winner Eye Of The Tiger and Listed winner Echoes Rock, plus a half-sister to German Champion and multiple Group victor Eagle Rise.
Ghaiyyath is also sire of impressive winner Stanhope Gardens, who holds an entry in the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes later this month.
Dubawi’s Horse of the Year won the Autumn Stakes himself at two, going on to win four G1 contests as an older horse including the Juddmonte, the Eclipse and the Coronation Cup.
