Broadsiding claimed his third G1 victory and gave Too Darn Hot a feature-race double at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 28 September when he scored a brilliant win in the Golden Rose over 1,400m.
Fresh from a dominant autumn-winter campaign that netted four Stakes-race wins – including the G1 Champagne Stakes and the G1 J.J. Atkins Stakes – Broadsiding powered to the line under champion jockey James McDonald in the home straight to edge out stablemate Traffic Warden (Street Boss) and Mayfair in a terrific finish.
The reigning champion NSW Two-Year-Old took his record to five wins and two placings from eight starts under Godolphin Australia Head Trainer James Cummings.
Out of Australian mare Speedway, Broadsiding is now likely to target the G1 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday, 12 October.
Broadsiding’s win came just three races after Perspiration (Too Darn Hot) won the Listed Heritage Stakes over 1,100m at Rosehill.
The former two-year-old Champion colt of Europe in 2018, a triple G1 winner and a son of the legendary Dubawi, Too Darn Hot has now sired 88 winners of 136 races worldwide – including 14 individual Stakes winners of 23 Stakes races.
“Great for the team, great for Godolphin and great for our stallion business with two great colts fighting it out,” newly appointed GA managing director Andy Makiv said.
“It sets up our spring nicely, with two colts who should go on different paths.
“Hopefully it’s the start of Broadsiding’s spring and Traffic Warden’s day will come when he gets to win a G1 and cement his place as well.”
