Dubawi three-year-old Mickdaam got Super Saturday off to a fine start with victory in the Listed Al Bastakiya over 1900m at Meydan.
Bred in Ireland by Victor Stud Bloodstock Ltd, the Mike de Kock-trained colt was beaten just a quarter of a length into second in the G3 UAE 2,000 Guineas on 9 February. He won his maiden last October at York when in training with Richard Fahey.
Out of the Be My Guest mare Ribot’s Guest, Mickdaam is a half-brother to Group One winner Kinnaird and was purchased by South African-based Form Bloodstock for 360,000gns at Tattersalls’ October Yearling Sale in 2010.
Dubawi, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud for £75,000, is the sire of 38 stakes winners and seven Group One winners, including Makfi, Waldpark and Poet’s Voice.
