First-season sire Layman wasted little time in opening his account when two-year-old filly Gerash won by a length and a half over 950m at Marseilles Borely.
Bred by Jean-Claude Seroul, she is the first foal to race out of the dual Stakes-placed Anabaa mare Lunaa.
Layman was himself Champion two-year-old colt in France, winning the G3 Prix de Cabourg by five lengths before finishing second to Divine Proportions in the G1 Prix Morny and once again hitting the board at the highest level when beaten just a short neck and a nose in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Grand Criterium. He returned at three with a record-breaking victory in the G3 Sovereign Stakes.
Layman also boasts an outstanding pedigree, being by the great Sunday Silence and from the family of leading sire and fellow Darley stallion Cape Cross.
He stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €4,500, October 1st terms.
