Sunday was a day of success for Darley stallions Cape Cross, Singspiel and Tiger Hill when they all sired Stakes winners.
The first to get off the mark was Cape Cross when his son, Able One was victorious in the G3 Premier Cup in Hong Kong. This was his first victory of the season after a very successful 2007 when the highlight was victory in the G1 Champion’s Mile.
Bred in New Zealand by Sir Patrick & Lady Hogan, he is out of the unraced Danehill mare Gardenia, and is the full-brother of Stakes winning filly Florilegium.
It was back to Europe for the next win when the Tiger Hill colt, Abbashiva ran out an easy two-length winner of the Listed Sprintpreis at Hannover.
He had only two starts as a Juvenile but was good enough to finish third in Germany’s leading two-year-old race, the Preis des Winterfavoriten. After contesting with credit the German 2000 Guineas on his last start, he appreciated the drop in trip to 1300m to score easily.
Owned and Bred by Nathalie & Bruno Schuoler, he is out of the Goofalik mare Abba and is half-brother to current German G3 scorer Abbadjinn. There is also a two-year-old by Tiger Hill retained by the breeders and in training with Abbashiva’s trainer, Peter Rau.
We move over to Italy for the next victory where Singspiel filly, Vinea Federspiel won the Listed Premio Royal Mares over 1600m at Milan.
This was her third win overall and second Stakes victory after taking the Listed Premio Terme di Merano in 2007.
She will be an exciting broodmare when her racing days are finished as she is closely related to the King's Best colt Creachadoir, winner of the G1 Lockinge Stakes this season.
Staying in Italy, Darley first-season sire Refuse To Bend registered his second individual winner when Super Nancy won at Siracusa. Second on her debut exactly one month previous, she put the experience to good use winning by half-a-length.
Bred by Joan Murphy, she is out of the placed Red Ransom mare, Crossbreeze and is very closely related to St Leger winner Rule Of Law.
