Eye Of The Tiger is, as his name suggests, by Tiger Hill and made an eye-catching debut when winning the Prix des Ternes at Longchamp on 19 June. He led home a Darley-sired trifecta with the the three-year-old colt Summer Love, a filly by Dubai Destination in second and Singspiel filly Cottage Club third in the nine-furlong event for first-time runners.
Owned and bred by Baron Von Ullmann, Eye Of The Tiger is out of the Surumu mare Evening Breeze and thus a full brother to Listed winner Echoes Rock and closely related to multiple Group Two winner Eagle Rise, who is by Tiger Hill’s sire Danehill.
Dubai Destination was responsible for a brace of two-year-old maiden winners on 25 June when Firebet won on his debut at Carlisle and Ahla Wasahl followed that success at Kempton’s evening meeting.
Firebet, who is out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Dancing Prize and was bred by Derek Veitch and Saleh Ali Hammadi, showed plenty of speed over the five furlongs and finished full of running when finishing two lengths clear of his nearest rival . He is a half-brother to seven winners, including Sassy Gal, by King's Best.
Ahla Wasahl was making her second appearance on the racecourse and also struck by two lengths. The Dachel Stud-bred daughter of In Full Cry (by Seattle Slew) is a half-sister to Private Seductress, who is the dam of Oaks d’Italia winner Menhoubah.
