Rainbow Crossing, a three-year-old filly by Cape Cross, brought a little early Christmas cheer to her owner/breeder Lady Chryss O’Reilly with victory in the Listed Prix Petite Etoile at Deauville on Wednesday.
The British-bred filly started her racing career in Ireland, where she won a maiden at Gowran Park for trainer Kevin Prendergast at two. A switch to France and the stable of Francois Rohaut for her three-year-old campaign saw her run fifth to subsequent 1,000 Guineas winner Natagora in the Listed Prix Impudence on her first start this year. She followed up with victory at Saint-Cloud and since then has fun four times at Listed level, finishing in the money on every occasion.
Cape Cross, whose Stakes winners this year also include Russian Cross, Sabana Perdida and Crystal Capella, stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland at a fee of €35,000 (October 1, Special Live Foal).
