First winner for Country Reel

Miss Shanghai victorious at Maisons-Laffitte

First-season sire Country Reel opened his winner’s account on 11 May when his daughter Miss Shanghai recorded a length-and-half victory in the five-and-a-half furlong maiden at Maisons-Laffitte.

This was just her second racecourse start, having finished second on her debut exactly a month ago. Bred by M. Simon Cocozza, Miss Shanghai becomes the third winner out of the Sicyos mare Miss Breezy and is from the family of Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Desert Stormer.

Country Reel was a smart juvenile himself, winning on his debut before going on to land the G2 Gimcrack Stakes.  He also boasts an impressive sire’s pedigree, with his dam Country Belle being a half-sister to Anabaa and Key Of Luck.

He stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €4,500, October 1st Special live foal.
