Six-year-old Smart Enough won the Listed Swedish Open Mile at Taby on Monday less than a year after being imported to Sweden from the UK.
Bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud and Mrs M E Slade, the son of Cadeaux Genereux won four races for British-based Swedish trainer Mikael Magnusson and was runner-up in the Listed Superior Mile at Haydock before being sold at last autumn’s horses-in-training sale. He has a winning half-brother called Bright Enough, who is by Darley Japan stallion Fantastic Light.
With eight Group One winners to his name, including Bahamian Bounty, Bijou d’Inde and Touch Of The Blues, Cadeaux Genereux’s reputation as a sire of the highest quality has long been assured but he is also acquiring a growing reputation as a broodmare sire. His daughters have produced the Group One winners Notnowcato, Rajeem and Ashkal Way and, in 2009, the names Misheer (Cherry Hinton Stakes) and Penny’s Gift (German 1000 Guineas) have been added to the list of Stakes winners out of Cadeaux Genereux mares.
