Two-year-old Shamandar ran out the ready winner of the Listed EBF Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury for her second victory and her first at Stakes level.
By Exceed And Excel, Shamandar was bred in France by Team Hogdala AB and now races for Bob and Pauline Scott. She won on debut at Ripon in May and has since finished runner-up in the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint and in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes on her last start, when she was beaten only a nose.
This was the second Listed winner in a week for Exceed And Excel following the victory of Exceptional Art in the Beverley Bullet Stakes on Saturday.
At Epsom, Shaayeq, a first-crop son of Dubawi, won at the second time of asking, taking the one-mile EBF Maiden by two-and-a-half lengths.
Shaayeq, who is out of Shohrah (Giant’s Causeway) and was bred by Shadwell Estate Company, is the 21st individual winner for leading first-season sire Dubawi.
