Sea The Stars wins fifth consecutive G1

Cape Cross colt imperious yet again in Irish Champion Stakes

The brilliant Sea The Stars continued to assert his dominance with a superior performance in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. His record for the season is now an immaculate five wins from five starts - all at Group One level.

Having started his 2009 campaign in the 2000 Guineas, the son of Cape Cross went on to win the Derby and then to make history by adding the Eclipse and the Juddmonte International to his list of first-class victories.

Homebred by the Tsui family from their magnificent Arc-winning mare Urban Sea, Sea The Stars was only confirmed as a definite runner on Saturday morning after heavy rain midweek threatened to jeopardise his participation. Taking on Irish Guineas winner Mastercraftsman and Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory, his two-and-a-half-length victory fully reiterated his standing as the highest-rated horse in the world.

Cape Cross, who is currently the leading stallion in Europe, is also sire of this week’s G2 Bosphorous Cup winner, Halicarnassus.
