Rewilding stakes his Derby claim

Son of Tiger Hill now 10-1 for the Epsom Classic following his resounding victory in the Cocked Hat Stakes

Rewilding, Godolphin’s impeccably-bred son of Tiger Hill, burst into Derby contention on 19 May with an impressive win in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood.

Settled in fifth position under Frankie Dettori, Rewilding made his move with two furlongs left to run and eased clear close to home to win the 11-furlong contest by four lengths. He has now won twice and finished second twice in four starts and came into today’s race off the back of a creditable second in the G2 Prix Noailles. He will now be supplemented for the Derby, due to take place at Epsom on 5 June.

Bred by Watership Down Stud, Rewilding is out of the G1 winner Darara, making him a half-brother to Singspiel's outstanding daughter Dar Re Mi (who increased her tally of G1 wins to three earlier this year when winning the Dubai Sheema Classic).

Tiger Hill has now sired five individual Stakes winners this year, including Eye Of The Tiger, who won the G2 Gerling-Preis earlier this month.
