Three winners for Byron

Godolphin colt Ahtoug obliges at Beverley

First-season sire Byron recorded his third individual winner on 3 July when his son Ahtoug ran out the ready winner of the five-furlong maiden at Beverley.

Breaking from the outside stall, the Mahmood al Zarooni-trained colt was quickly up with the pace and making headway at the halfway point, stayed on superbly in the closing stages to score by a length.

Bred by Darley, Ahtoug is out of the dual G1 winner Cherokee Rose (Dancing Brave) – also dam of G3 winner and French Guineas third Bowman, plus recent TBA Award winner Moyesii, herself dam of Sulamani's Classic winner Mastery.  Cherokee Rose has a yearling filly by Exceed And Excel and returned to him in 2010.

Byron, a G2-winning juvenile who went on to finish second in the G1 French Guineas and win the G2 Lennox Stakes at three, is impeccably-bred, being by sire of sires Green Desert and from the family of A P Indy.
