Exceed And Excel two-year-old Klammer made the 300-mile journey from his Newmarket base to Deauville worthwhile with victory in the 1600m Listed Criterium du F.E.E. on Saturday.
The Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained colt has looked a highly exciting prospect all season, winning his first two starts at five (1000m) and six (1200m) furlongs before finishing fifth in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and third in the G2 Superlative Stakes during Newmarket’s July meeting.
Bred by Ermyn Lodge Stud Limited, Klammer is out of the Darshaan mare Aymara and races in the colours of Yan Wah Wu.
Another Exceed And Excel two-year-old, the Irish-trained filly Moonlit Garden, took third in the Listed Grangecon Stud stakes at the Curragh, her third black-type performance. She too was a winning debutante and was bred by Knocklong House Stud.
Exceed And Excel, who has sired 20 individual juvenile winners in Europe so far this season, was also represented by the G1-placed Piccadilly Filly on Friday, who finished third in the Nunthorpe Stakes just behind the Australian multiple G1-winning sprinter Starspangledbanner.
