Poet’s Voice, from the first crop of leading second-season sire Dubawi, returned to winning ways in tremendous style on 28 August when storming to victory in the G2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood.
Settled at the rear under Frankie Dettori, Poet’s Voice was asked to quicken once he entered the home straight and the race was over in a matter of strides as he eased clear, eventually winning by an impressive four and a half lengths.
This was the second victory at G2 level for the Godolphin colt, who landed the Champagne Stakes as a juvenile. He will now be aimed next month’s G1 QEII Stakes, a race in which Dubawi himself finished second.
Dubawi has now sired eight individual Group winners this year, more than any other second-season sire. They include 2,000 Guineas and Prix Jacques le Marois winner Makfi, fellow G1 winner Happy Archer, plus G2-winning trio Irish Field, Monterosso and Worthadd.
Also on Saturday, three-year-old Cape Cross colt Caucus added further Black type to his CV when third in the Listed March Stakes, also at Goodwood.
